Things are looking up…

I’m beginning this blog with a with a recollection of one of the first mobiles I made back in 1977 while living in Boston, MA. It was for a guy who loved jazz and wanted me to create a mobile depicting Big Sid, (Sidney Catlett – January 17, 1910 – March 25, 1951), who was a swinging jazz drummer often referred to as “Big Sid Catlett” because of his large frame. I used cut out pieces of foam core and colored in sections with pastels. With some fixative and balancing I had a mobile! My first commission was done and he loved it.
